On Thursday, 12 December at 7:00 p.m., a seventy-member ensemble of artists will perform at the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre–International Ceramics Centre in a music production prepared on an extraordinary scale.

The bicentenary of Giuseppe Verdi’s birth inspired the creation of the international Verdi Gala 2013 project. The Roncole Verdi Orchestra, previously performing abroad under the name Opera Polska, was established on the initiative of maestro Marek Tracz and Italian conductor Silvano Frontalini.

The orchestra is made up of outstanding musicians from philharmonic orchestras and opera theatres across Europe. The project brings together artists who feel a particular affinity with the work of Giuseppe Verdi, led by Italian performers. The soloists, choir and orchestra form an ensemble of almost 70 people.

“Verdi Gala” is a grandly produced musical and stage spectacle combining excerpts from operas known throughout the world, including La Traviata, Rigoletto, Aida and Nabucco.

Verdi’s music masterfully conveys every kind of human feeling, emotion and passion. On stage, images from different eras pass by like a kaleidoscope: from ancient Egypt (Aida), through the courts of powerful rulers (Rigoletto) and gypsy camps (Il trovatore), to romantic salons (La Traviata).
