We present the new premises of the language school, which has been located since 3 April in the building at 12 Górne Młyny Street (entrance from the courtyard behind the BOK Tauron building). The school has increased its floor space, and the approximately 160 m² area contains three spacious classrooms, a reception area, a bathroom and a coffee room.
The premises are bright and spacious. The new space has made it possible to create original and interesting interior arrangements. Another advantage of this location is its own parking spaces.
The only thing that has not changed at Painted Bird is the “old”, good teacher Paul R. Maunder and his innovative English lessons. From September, two more English teachers, Sarah and Gary, will support him. With their skills, humour and cultural experience in both countries, they are a perfect fit for Painted Bird.
“It is a great place, very positive, and I know our students will feel wonderful here,” says Paul, showing the school’s new premises.
At Paul R. Maunder’s school, students have contact with a teacher using his native language in his work (a native speaker) from the very beginning, but that is not the only advantage here. Paul has his own methods for unlocking his students’ language skills. There are hundreds of approaches because, as the teacher says, every person is an individual and everyone needs a different key to be able to communicate in a foreign language.
Since September 2013, Painted Bird has also offered German lessons taught by Ignacja Kisielewska-Maunder.
“For many years I lived in Germany and learned German in Hessen, so I speak with that accent. Do not expect Hochdeutsch here—it is not unfamiliar to me, but it is not close to my heart,” says the teacher. “We want to be ordinary, though perhaps different. Just as our children, who are growing up speaking three languages, are ordinary, though different.”
