At the next session of the Bolesławiec City Council, which will take place on 28 August, councillors will adopt—or not—a resolution “concerning the amendment of Resolution No. XIII/82/11 of the Bolesławiec City Council of 31 August 2011 concerning the fare schedule for passenger transport services in public collective transport within the city of Bolesławiec”.
If the legal act comes into force, period and network tickets for the urban network within the boundaries of Bolesławiec will cost: PLN 63 (PLN 9 less) and PLN 31.50 (PLN 4.50 less). The quarterly fee for these tickets will be, respectively: PLN 170 (previously PLN 194) and PLN 85 (previously PLN 97). Abolished will also be named monthly tickets.
Moreover, the age limit for children and young people with an impairment or disability who are entitled to free travel within the city will be increased to 25 years (currently: “no longer than until the age of 18”), while the right to travel at a 50% discount will be granted to “disabled veterans of operations outside the country receiving a disability pension due to injuries or illnesses”.
The statement of reasons for the draft resolution reads:
The changes to the fare schedule are intended to increase the number of people using public transport on the basis of monthly tickets at the expense of journeys made using single-ride tickets. A network ticket allows an unlimited number of journeys on all lines within the boundaries of Bolesławiec. Reducing the price of the network and quarterly tickets within the city, while simultaneously abolishing line tickets, which entitled holders to travel only on one line within a specified kilometre range, will work very well in the new transport network currently being prepared.
Raising the age limit to 25 for children and young people with an impairment or disability who are entitled to free travel within the city will increase the number of people able to benefit from various types of offers, such as sports and cultural activities, provided by different institutions. Thanks to access to public transport equipped with buses adapted to carry people with disabilities, Bolesławiec will thereby become more friendly to them. Raising the age for children and young people with an impairment or disability to 25 and not distinguishing between types of disability will not significantly affect the carrier’s financial situation. The introduction of a new group of people entitled to travel on public transport with a 50% discount results from the Act of 19 August 2011 on veterans of operations outside the country. [...]
