The Deutsch-Polnischer Verein group from Zwickau arrived in Bolesławiec on Friday, June 14. This was not the first meeting between the Song and Dance Ensemble “Mały Bolesławiec” and the dancers from Germany. Since 2004, both groups have met regularly for joint performances and dance workshops.

On Saturday, the national dance group performed during a family festival at Primary School No. 4 in Bolesławiec (first- and third-grade students, pupils of Anna Idkowiak, also performed there). Mały Bolesławiec then travelled to Jelenia Góra together with their friends from Germany, where both groups took part in the fourth edition of the International Folklore Festival. At the end of the performance, both groups sang “Kukułeczka kuka” in Polish and German.

And on Sunday, June 16, Mały Bolesławiec and Deutsch-Polnischer Verein performed on the stage of the Old Theatre in Bolesławiec. The audience warmly applauded the dancers. The Skrzaty rhythmic dance group also made a guest appearance on stage. The final performance of “Kukułeczka...” was, of course, not missing.

The groups’ next meeting will take place in the autumn. The group from Zwickau is led by Edyta Strake, the band leader of the Song and Dance Ensemble “Mały Bolesławiec” is Bogusław Kłak, and the dance teacher is Anna Idkowiak.
