Oscar-nominated Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) directed the film in 3D using a screenplay co-written by his frequent collaborator Craig Pearce. The screenplay is based on motifs from Fitzgerald’s novel. The executive producers are Oscar winner Barrie M. Osborne (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) and Bruce Berman.
The director created his own distinctive visual interpretation of this classic tale, bringing the era to life in a way we have never seen before. Leonardo DiCaprio will play the title character.
The film The Great Gatsby tells the story of aspiring writer Nick Carraway, who leaves the Midwest and arrives in New York in the spring of 1922, in an era of declining morality, glittering jazz and bootlegging kings. Nick pursues his American dream, settling in the neighborhood of the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby, who throws numerous parties, across the bay from his cousin Daisy’s home.
