Bolesławiec Modern Biathlon Championships
On Saturday, the Bolesławiec Modern Biathlon Championships took place at the Water Sports Centre on Spacerowa Street. The competitors had to swim 100 metres using any stroke and run 1,000 metres. Competitors from Bolesławiec, Wrocław and Jelenia Góra took part in the event. Igor Urban of Jelenia Góra won the men's overall classification. Roger Bandarek of Bolesławiec finished second. The third place went to the youngest participant, Jan Kowalczyk of Wrocław. Unfortunately, only one participant, Agnieszka Janicka, took part in the women's category.
Race Up the Stairs for a Ceramic Cup
The Race Up the Stairs for a Ceramic Cup also took place on Saturday. The competition was held in the high-rise building of the City Office on Piłsudskiego Square. Competitors had to climb all the floors of the building on foot as quickly as possible. When a competitor reached the top floor, they received a ceramic cup filled with water. They then had to run back down with it. The judges added a three-second penalty for every 10 ml of water spilled.
Wojciech Bączek won the men's overall classification with a time of 1 minute 34 seconds. Roger Bednarek took second place, finishing 4 seconds slower. Przemysław Filipowicz came third; he competed in a Boleslawiec.org shirt. His time was 1 minute and 39 seconds.
Anna Ficner won the women's overall classification with a time of 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Anna Ławnik came second, with a time 18 seconds slower. Beata Kaczmaryk took third place with a time of 2 minutes and 58 seconds.
Special prizes were awarded to the youngest and oldest participants in the competition. The youngest runner was 13-year-old Jan Kowalczyk, while the oldest was 64-year-old Rajmund Bączyk. The prizes included a home cinema system, Hi-Fi stereo systems, DVD players, a Discman, as well as trophies and certificates.
4th Boule Tournament
The 4th Boule Tournament took place on Sunday at the Water Sports Centre on Spacerowa Street. Although only three teams took part, the competition was very fierce. MOSiR won with Dariusz Stępień and Zbigniew Kowalczyk on the team. Eden, represented by Franciszek Walski and Paweł Polaszek, came second. Pawilon, represented by Oskar Cisiński and Bartosz Czubak, finished third.
Swimming Competition for the Ceramic Pitcher
The competition was held on Sunday at the swimming pools on Spacerowa Street. Sixteen competitors took part. They swam 50-metre races using freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke, as well as 100-metre races using freestyle and breaststroke. Vanessa Piotrowska won the women's overall classification. Agnieszka Janicka came second, while Edyta Pietraszek took third place. Rafał Piotrowski was the best in the men's overall classification. Igor Urban and Dominik Sługocki took the next places.
All the weekend's sporting events were organised by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre.
