The September session of the Bolesławiec City Council is underway. During the session, this year’s Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival was summarized, but the next edition of the event was also discussed. Mayor Piotr Roman stressed that preparations for next year’s event are already beginning.

– We are already thinking about next year’s Ceramic Festival, because we have to start thinking about it now – said the mayor of the City of Ceramics.

“Bolesławiec on the Route”

There is already an idea for next year’s Ceramic Festival. It would refer to European cultural routes. However, as the mayor pointed out, this is not yet a final decision. For two years now, the City has been trying to propose a leitmotif for the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.

The mayor noted that next year will mark the 40th anniversary of the beginning of procedures at the European Commission concerning the creation of European cultural routes.

In this context, he pointed to the European Route of Ceramics, with which Bolesławiec is associated:

Bolesławiec is, in a way, a co-creator of this success, which undoubtedly consisted in the establishment and classification of the ceramic route as a European cultural route—or, in other words, one of the routes that built Europe.

His statement also mentioned other routes associated with Bolesławiec and the region: the Napoleonic Route, the Way of St. James, and Via Regia.

– So for now, the idea is that it would be “Bolesławiec on the Route.” Simply put – the mayor announced.

The Leitmotif Has Not Yet Been Decided

At this stage, the slogan “Bolesławiec on the Route” is a proposal, rather than an officially adopted theme for next year’s Ceramic Festival.

– Of course, this is not yet a final decision, but we would like to move toward emphasizing that Bolesławiec is a European city, a city on a route, and a city that derives enormous benefits from this route – Piotr Roman concluded.
