Students of the II General Secondary School recorded a several-dozen-second clip featuring a characteristic dance to a well-known track on the borderline of drum'n'bass, electro and dubstep.
Since February this year, internet users around the world have been making their own funny videos to the song “Harlem Shake”. At the beginning of the recording, very little usually happens: only one person dances to the rhythm of the music. After a while, all the costumed figures in the recording are dancing (they may be, for example, characters from films or cartoons), or people with animal features (such as a horse’s or chicken’s head), wearing skimpy outfits or holding unusual objects.
Internet users from around the world picked up the idea of recording such mini music videos, creating their own “Harlem Shakes”. During the period of its greatest popularity, as many as 4,000 new videos appeared online every day. The dance was performed by students, the Norwegian army, corporate employees, fathers with their children and many others.
Bolesławiec now has its first “Harlem Shake”, recorded by students of the II General Secondary School. “It’s a great initiative,” says school principal Mirosław Sakowski. “It’s good fun that doesn’t hurt anyone, and it also promotes our positive secondary school,” he adds with a smile after watching the school’s own “Harlem Shake”.
The recording featured students from the first- and second-year classes: Maciej Mocny, Oskar Kuba Sulikowski, Bartek Burzyński, Alan Champlewski, Denis Gonciarz, Jakub Feret, Mateusz Więcek, Amadeusz Skokun and Miłosz Kuduk.
