The winners of this year's Oscars, the film industry's most important awards, will be announced on 24 February. Steven Spielberg's “Lincoln” has the best chance of winning statuettes (12 nominations), along with “Life of Pi” (11 nominations). Polish cinematographer Janusz Kamiński (nominated for the sixth time, this time for his cinematography on “Lincoln”) may win his third Oscar of his career.

From 15 February Forum cinema will screen several films nominated in the most important categories. BOK-MCC warmly recommends: the 3D adaptation of Yann Martel's famous novel “Life of Pi”; the story of a ten-year hunt for Osama bin Laden, namely Kathryn Bigelow's film “Zero Dark Thirty” (the director of, among others, the award-winning “The Hurt Locker”); as well as one of the most optimistic films, featuring phenomenal performances by Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, “Silver Linings Playbook”, and a moving, lavishly filmed story of a family that survived the 2004 tsunami – “The Impossible” (starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor).
