The incident occurred on Wednesday before noon in one of the car parks in the city centre. The vehicle owner noticed an unknown man unscrewing the elements securing the wheel covers from his car’s wheels. The car owner approached the person standing by his vehicle and demanded that he return his property. The man warned the thief that he was calling the police. The suspect then got into a car parked nearby and drove away with the driver. After a while, while the victim was waiting for a police patrol, the same two men approached him, kicked him to the ground and then fled. Police officers began searching for the suspects. On one of the nearby streets, they arrested people matching the attackers’ description.
The suspects are 19-year-old men who live in the municipalities of Nowogrodziec and Warta Bolesławiecka. Officers established that the arrested men stole wheel-cover elements because they needed them for the car they were using.
The men will now face charges of assault and theft; they face up to three years in prison.
