On the night of August 1–2, the duty officer at the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received a report of the theft of a truck along with its cargo. The crime took place in Gromadka commune. The vehicle had been parked in a parking lot at a petrol station. Thanks to the effective efforts of Bolesławiec police officers, the vehicle was recovered that same night.
Officers on duty on the A-4 motorway stopped a man who was driving the stolen truck. The driver failed to respond to signals to stop and attempted to flee. After a brief chase, the driver was arrested. The 31-year-old resident of Gromadka commune was taken into police custody. The man had no previous convictions. The stolen property was worth nearly PLN 70,000. The recovered vehicle and its cargo were returned to their rightful owner.
Breaking into and stealing a vehicle carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
