The ceremony began with a formal assembly attended by former commanders of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade (Colonel Jana Białego, Colonel Piotra Żurakowskiego and Colonel Romana Kłosińskiego), soldiers (led by the former head of the Rocket Forces and Artillery, Brigadier General Antoniego Skibińskiego), local government officials, as well as commanders of units, heads of uniformed services and directors of companies cooperating with the Bolesławiec unit.
Colonel Andrzej Lorenc, commander of the 23rd Artillery Regiment, presented soldiers serving in Polish Military Contingents with Stars of Afghanistan, medals for long and exemplary service, and promotions to higher military ranks. The winners of this year's Master of Fire competition of the 23rd Artillery Regiment were also honored. The winner was Captain Paweł Jabłoński. The recipients of the titles of officer, non-commissioned officer and private of the year were also recognized. Commemorative gorgets were presented by the regiment commander and the former head of the Rocket Forces and Artillery to Major Piotr Kobyłecki, Warrant Officer Rafał Jazłowiecki and Senior Private Dariusz Król.
During the roll call, members of the Artillery Training Team who had returned from a mission in Afghanistan were also welcomed, and flowers were laid beneath a plaque commemorating soldiers of artillery units.
The holiday celebrations provided an opportunity to review 27 years of activity by the reformed 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade. The ceremony concluded with a meeting of generations of artillery personnel.
