After the opening of the new bridge over the Bóbr and the transfer of road traffic onto it, the contractor began another important stage of the reconstruction of DK94 in Bolesławiec. The old crossing was closed to traffic and its demolition began. The asphalt surface is currently being removed, among other work.
It is precisely where the old bridge stands that a second new crossing over the Bóbr will be built. As a result, Bolesławiec will have two parallel bridges, and the reconstructed section of DK94 will be adapted to the planned dual-carriageway layout. Each bridge will have a two-lane roadway, as well as infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists.
New bridge and new turbo roundabouts
After the old bridge is demolished, the contractor will begin construction of a new crossing in its place. At the same time, work will be carried out on reconstructing the entire road system. Turbo roundabouts will be built at both ends of the bridges; their purpose will be to improve traffic flow and increase intersection capacity.
The existing intersection layout will also be reconstructed. A new roundabout will be built in the area of Widok Street, while the roundabout at Zgorzelecka Street will be reconstructed. The modernization will also cover the intersections of DK94 with Spacerowa Street and the municipal road. New sidewalks, cycle paths, bus bays, stormwater drainage, lighting and equipment improving traffic safety are also planned, among other works.
The entire project covers the reconstruction of approximately 600 metres of DK94. Once completed, drivers will have two new bridges at their disposal, along with a significantly reconstructed transport system on both sides of the Bóbr.
According to information from GDDKiA, all work is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027.
