The work is being carried out as part of the “Expansion of the road system, including the reconstruction of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge over the Bóbr River along national road no. 94 in Bolesławiec” project.
Ultimately, two new bridges will replace the single existing structure. Each of the new crossings will have a two-lane roadway, as well as a sidewalk and a bicycle path. A section of national road no. 94 will also be reconstructed and will have two carriageways.
The new road system is intended to improve the connection between the two banks of the Bóbr and facilitate not only vehicular traffic, but also pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
You can follow what is happening on the bridge via the live camera:
Roundabouts with turbo design will be built at both ends of the crossings; their size and layout are intended to ensure smoother traffic and freedom to choose the direction of travel.
The demolition of the old bridge is another stage of a major road investment that will ultimately completely change traffic organization in this part of Bolesławiec.
