The incident occurred on Thursday, September 24, during the late morning hours in Kraśnik. Officers from the County Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec went to one of the properties after receiving information that items originating from a theft might be located there.
The police officers began procedural activities at the scene involving the people they found there. At one point, a 33-year-old man returned home.
Two shots fired at a police officer
The man fired two shots from a firearm at one of the officers. The police officer was struck in the head.
After firing the shots, the 33-year-old began to flee. He was arrested during a pursuit. Earlier information provided by the spokesperson for the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Commander in Wrocław indicated that the police officers also fired shots during the incident, while the arrested man was not injured.
The injured officer was transported to hospital.
Prosecutor’s office: attempted murder being considered
Activities involving the District Prosecutor in Bolesławiec and officers from the Bolesławiec police are being carried out at the scene. Evidence is being secured and an inspection of the scene is being conducted.
The proceedings are being conducted in the direction of attempted murder and an active assault on a police officer.
