Bolesłavia is a First League club that competes with the best centers from across Poland. How did this come about? “All it takes is a few enthusiasts, forty athletes, two hours of training every day, several dozen trips across Poland; writing several projects, implementing and settling them; and cooperation with MOS, MOSiR, the City Hall, the County Office, the Lower Silesian Athletics Association, the Polish Athletics Association, the School Sports Association and the Rural Sports Association,” the club’s coaches enumerate. “The result may exceed even the boldest expectations.”
The finals of the First League of Athletics were held in Częstochowa and Łódź. Despite their young age—under-18 juniors, juniors and under-23 athletes—the MKS Bolesłavia competitors performed excellently in the senior category. The club’s team took a high 12th place in the country, defeating, among others, teams from Białystok, Zielona Góra and Warsaw.
The best results during the First League of Senior Athletics were achieved by:
- 1st place
- Patryk Pieczarka – 100 m (11.40)

Bolesłavia athletes can develop their talents thanks to the Inter-School Sports Center and the Bolesławiec City Hall. This year, the club received PLN 8,000 out of the PLN 100,000 allocated in the city budget for senior sport. However, as Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec municipal authorities, assures Agnieszka Gergont, this does not mean that officials fail to recognize Bolesłavia’s athletes’ achievements and potential. “Both the club and its athletes have repeatedly been honored by the mayor for promoting the city. In 2010, Bolesłavia received a team award, while two athletes (Katarzyna Romaszko and Agnieszka Dalmata) received individual awards,” she emphasizes.
Agnieszka Gergont also addressed the issue of funding for the club. “Bolesłavia submitted an offer for senior-sport activities for the first time. A commission appointed by the mayor recommended funding this offer with PLN 8,000. The mayor approved this recommendation,” the spokesperson explains. “As for funding in 2012, the decision will be made through the same procedure. It is not yet known what funds for senior sport will be secured in the city budget for 2012. The City Council will most likely decide on this matter in December this year.”
