Sylwester Łukasiewicz comes from Kraśnik Dolny near Bolesławiec. He lived there and attended secondary school in Bolesławiec. Later, he moved to the United States. He currently lives in New York and works in the media industry.
The Bolesławiec native stays in touch with local media, including the istotne.pl editorial office. He has now informed us about his latest project—a 26-minute documentary film, “Back to One – Return to Ground Zero”.
The key information for Polish viewers is that the documentary’s television premiere is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2026. The film, in its Polish-language version, will be shown twice on TVN24 BiS: at 2:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The channel is available on cable networks, satellite platforms and the TVN24+ app.
Return to the World Trade Center site
The documentary’s subject is Stephen Lindsey, a former banquet captain and manager of Windows on the World, the restaurant located at the top of the World Trade Center’s North Tower.
Lindsey returns to the rebuilt complex site for the first time in 24 years. Among other places, he visits the 9/11 Memorial, The Oculus and Winter Garden. He talks about the people he worked with, the community that was lost and the life connected with the World Trade Center before the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The film juxtaposes images of contemporary, rebuilt New York with memories of the people who died. The documentary addresses grief, memory, friendship and the attempt to return to places associated with traumatic events.
– “Back to One” is an intimate return to a place, memories and people whose lives were changed forever, says Sylwester Łukasiewicz.
The Bolesławiec native is responsible for the film’s key elements
The documentary was produced by SPL Films LLC. Sylwester Łukasiewicz is its producer, director, cinematographer and editor. Robert Kahn of Mixology Post LLC handled the sound mix, while Luis Otero of Digital Emulsion LLC was responsible for color grading.
Post-production on the film was completed in July 2026. The New York premiere took place on August 8, and on August 30 the documentary was presented at a festival in Glendale, California.
The film has also reached American television. In September, it is being shown by the New York channels NYC Life and CUNY TV. One broadcast is scheduled for the morning of September 11, directly before the broadcast of ceremonies commemorating the victims of the attacks.
The production also has a three-year distribution agreement. Starting January 1, 2027, it may be broadcast by more than 300 stations belonging to the American public television network PBS. The documentary was prepared with subtitles in English, Spanish and Polish.
Polish viewers will be able to watch “Back to One – Return to Ground Zero” on TVN24 BiS on Friday, September 11, at 2:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
