The problem was brought to our Reader’s attention. In his opinion, the situation is particularly difficult on Aleja Wojska Polskiego, especially in the morning hours. Parked cars leave little room for free passage.

“Buses have no way to get through or pass each other,” the Reader reports.

Many cars with registration plates from outside Bolesławiec County can also be seen on the streets mentioned above. It can be assumed that some drivers come to the hospital and, due to the lack of free parking spaces, leave their cars on nearby streets. The problem intensifies particularly at times when many patients and visitors arrive at the hospital. It should also be added that the streets mentioned above are outside the paid parking zone, which further encourages people to leave their vehicles there.

This is not only a matter of convenience. A heavily obstructed roadway also means traffic difficulties. Bus drivers feel them particularly strongly on Aleja Wojska Polskiego, where on a narrower section they have to manoeuvre between parked cars and vehicles travelling in the opposite direction. Municipal services workers and drivers of other larger vehicles, such as fire engines, who need to use these streets, are affected as well.

The hospital is trying to increase the number of parking spaces. A new car park is also planned in the area of the under-construction LPR helicopter landing pad, with room for 40 cars.

Will that be enough?

The 40 new spaces will certainly help, but given the current scale of demand, they will be an insufficient solution. The number of cars continues to grow, while there are still too few parking spaces.

For now, drivers are trying to cope on their own, and nearby streets are increasingly becoming additional car parks. The area around the Bolesławiec hospital needs further solutions that would increase the number of parking spaces while also ensuring unobstructed passage for buses and other vehicles.
