On Friday, August 28 – from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – a meteorological heat warning will be in effect in Bolesławiec County. Forecasters predict that the maximum temperature will reach between 28°C and 31°C.
Forecasters point out that heat may cause people to feel unwell, lead to dehydration and increase the risk of heatstroke. Particular caution should be exercised when working outdoors and during physical activity.
It is worth remembering that high temperatures can affect not only health but also the functioning of infrastructure. During hot weather, building and vehicle interiors overheat more often, while prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to faster fatigue.
How to safely get through the heat?
During the hottest hours of the day, between noon and late afternoon, it is advisable to limit time spent in direct sunlight. If it is not necessary to go outside, it is best to stay in cooler rooms, cover windows on the sunny side and air the apartment regularly in the morning or late evening. When leaving home, wear light, breathable clothing and a hat, and use UV sunscreen.
Proper hydration is equally important. During hot weather, drink water regularly, even if you do not feel thirsty, and avoid alcohol and excessive amounts of caffeinated drinks. Children and animals must also not be left in parked cars – the temperature inside a vehicle can reach dangerous levels within just a few minutes. It is also worth paying attention to elderly and isolated people, who may need help during the hottest weather.
