The opening of the new crossing for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic is an important stage in one of the largest road investments currently underway in Bolesławiec. Redirecting traffic onto the new bridge will allow the contractor to begin the next stage of work: demolishing the existing crossing and constructing another new structure in its place.
The new bridge has taken over traffic
The new crossing was built as part of an investment involving the expansion of approximately 600 meters of national road No. 94 and the construction of new bridge structures.
Before drivers could cross the new bridge, the structure was inspected for safety and load-bearing capacity. Load tests were carried out at the end of July, confirming that it was ready for use.
Although traffic has already been redirected onto the new crossing, the contractor is still carrying out final finishing works in the area. These include, among other things, installing road traffic safety equipment and putting up signage.
The old bridge will be demolished
The opening of the new bridge paves the way for the next stage of the investment. The existing crossing has been closed to traffic and will be demolished during the next stage of work.
Another new bridge structure will be built in its place and will form part of the final road layout. Once all the work is complete, drivers will use the reconstructed transport system in the area of the crossings over the Bóbr River.
The investment covers approximately 600 meters of national road No. 94 in Bolesławiec. Its aim is to create a new, final transport layout and improve traffic safety and flow in this part of the city.
Drivers will still need to be patient
Redirecting traffic onto the new bridge does not mean the end of the investment. Work in the DK94 area will continue for many months. Among other tasks, the contractor must demolish the old crossing, build another bridge and complete the remaining roadworks, including the construction of two turbo roundabouts.
According to the current schedule, the entire investment is planned to be completed in the second half of 2027.
For drivers, however, August 26, 2026, will remain an important date: cars crossed the new bridge over the Bóbr River in Bolesławiec for the first time.
