In the evening, he appeared on the premises of one of the health resort facilities in Cieplice. Taking advantage of the staff’s inattention, the 56-year-old resident of Karkonosze County entered a room where two female patients were staying. He introduced himself to the women as a masseur and offered to provide a service.

One of the women agreed to a massage. According to police findings, however, the man’s behavior soon made her uneasy. During the massage, the 56-year-old allegedly touched the woman in intimate areas.

When she firmly objected, the man stopped and fled the room. The Police were immediately notified of the incident.

Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect

The case was taken up by officers from Police Station II in Jelenia Góra. The police began efforts to establish the identity of the man who had allegedly claimed to be a sanatorium employee.

Surveillance camera footage proved crucial, among other things. Its analysis, combined with the officers’ operational work, led them to identify a 56-year-old resident of Karkonosze County as a person suspected of committing the act.

He was detained while travelling on a two-wheeled vehicle through the health resort. The man was taken to a police detention facility and was then brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

There, he was charged with committing another s***ual act. The prosecutor imposed a preventive measure in the form of police supervision.

Police are checking whether there were more such cases

At this stage of the proceedings, the 56-year-old is suspected of the act described above. However, police do not rule out that the man may also have engaged in other similar behavior. If the investigators’ findings confirm additional cases, his legal situation may change.

This type of crime is punishable by up to 8 years in prison. The court will decide the suspect’s further fate.

Police also appeal to people using services offered at sanatoriums, hotels and other holiday facilities to exercise caution. It is advisable to verify that the person offering a service is genuinely an employee of the facility or has the appropriate qualifications.

Officers also remind people not to let into their rooms anyone whose identity or purpose of visit they are unsure about. In the event of suspicious behavior, notify the facility staff, and if there is a threat, contact the Police.
