The weather is not being kind either to residents of Bolesławiec County or to visitors who have come for this year’s Ceramics Festival. On Saturday, August 22, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued a first-degree storm warning.
The warning is in effect on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The probability of the forecast phenomena occurring was estimated at 70 percent.
According to IMGW, storms may occur in places, locally accompanied by rainfall of up to 20 mm and wind gusts reaching up to 70 km/h. Forecasters also do not rule out small hail.
It is also worth taking particular care because the Ceramics Festival is taking place in Bolesławiec.
Take care!
During a storm, it is best to remain indoors and avoid going out into open spaces. It is advisable to close windows, secure items on balconies and terraces, and limit the use of electrical devices connected to the mains. If a storm catches us while driving, the safest option is to stop in a safe place and wait out the storm inside the vehicle.
Outdoors, avoid staying under solitary trees, near power poles or by the water, where the risk of being struck by lightning is particularly high. Drivers should leave more distance from other vehicles, adjust their speed to the conditions and watch out for possible local flooding and broken branches, which may appear on roads during heavy rain and strong winds.
