In July, we reported that Bolesławiec had won the Society of Polish Urban Planners’ competition for the best-developed public space in Poland. The competition jury included, among others, representatives of the Association of Polish Cities, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the National Chamber of Urban Planners, the Association of Polish Architects and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego. Our city proved to be the best in the “Revitalized Public Space” category (the revitalization of the Market Square and the surrounding green areas).
On September 16, an awards ceremony was held in Lubliniec. The prestigious distinction for Bolesławiec was accepted by Mayor Piotr Roman and City Architect Piotr Żak. “Great joy—it was worth it. This award is the result of six years of hard work by many people at the City Hall and elsewhere. The results are surprisingly good. I am pleased that the residents appreciate them too,” Roman said.
Piotr Żak presented the results of the revitalization in Lubliniec. “I am impressed by what the local authorities have done in Bolesławiec. What is happening there truly deserves recognition. I will encourage local-government officials to follow this path. If they do not know how to do it, they must go to Bolesławiec and find out,” said Janusz Żbik, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, after the presentation.
