A serious motorcyclist accident in Osła and numerous residents’ complaints about young people riding cross bikes, quad bikes, motorcycles and electric scooters dangerously prompted the Village Head of Gromadka Municipality Ryszard Kawka to publish an extensive appeal.

As the head of the municipality emphasizes, the issue has been causing residents concern for a long time:

In connection with numerous complaints concerning young people riding cross-type motorcycles, electric scooters, racing motorcycles and quad bikes dangerously, I appeal above all to parents and guardians: please talk to your children about responsibility and compliance with the regulations.

The Village Head reminds residents that quad bikes and motorcycles may not be ridden on sidewalks, promenades, parking lots or other places intended for pedestrians. He also draws attention to the disruptive noise about which residents are complaining increasingly often.

At the same time, he announces that if the problem continues, the local government will not remain passive:

However, if the situation does not improve, reported cases of violations will be forwarded to the Police so that appropriate action can be taken.

In his post, the Village Head also referred to the increasingly frequent accidents involving children riding quad bikes and cross bikes:

Accidents involving children riding quad bikes and cross bikes are occurring increasingly often. Although these vehicles may seem like an attractive form of entertainment, in reality they entail serious risks – especially for the youngest, who do not yet have the necessary skills, reflexes or awareness of the dangers.

Ryszard Kawka also reminds residents that responsibility for the safety of the youngest rests primarily with adults:

Responsibility rests with adults – we decide whether a child has access to a vehicle and under what conditions they use it.

The Village Head appeals to parents not to allow their children to ride quad bikes and cross bikes in public places without the required qualifications and supervision, and to choose closed tracks or areas designated for this type of activity.

The problem is not new. The Village Head:

I would add that at every session of the Gromadka Municipal Council, the issue of minors who show off by riding on one wheel for 200–300 m on a public road is raised.

At the end of the post, he referred to the incident that occurred on 3 August in Osła. “Dear Parents, your children’s safety depends on you, so that there are no cases like the one on 3 August this year in Osła,” the Village Head appeals.

Serious Motorcyclist Accident

The incident mentioned by the head of the municipality occurred on Monday evening in Gromadka Municipality. The report was received at 19:56. The motorcyclist struck a roadside crash barrier and then fell into a ditch.

Firefighters secured the scene and provided the injured person with first aid until the medical rescue team arrived. Members of OSP Różyniec, firefighters from JRG Bolesławiec, paramedics and police officers took part in the operation.

The injured motorcyclist was handed over to the care of the medical rescue team. The Police are carrying out activities to establish the exact circumstances and cause of the accident.

The Village Head’s appeal forms part of the increasingly frequent discussion about the safety of young users of cross-type motorcycles and quad bikes. The local government is relying above all on the responsibility of parents and guardians, emphasizing that talking to children and following the regulations in force can prevent further dangerous incidents.
