These were exceptionally busy two days for firefighters from Bolesławiec County. On August 4–5, 2026, rescuers from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec and Volunteer Fire Service units repeatedly responded to incidents related to strong winds.
Most interventions involved removing the effects of dangerous weather phenomena. Firefighters removed fallen trees and branches blocking roads, secured damaged infrastructure elements, and eliminated hazards that could pose a danger to residents and their property. Thanks to the rescuers’ efficient actions, safety was quickly restored in many locations.
However, the final operation of those intense days had an entirely different character. In the early morning hours, firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Service units in Gierałtów and Nowogrodziec were dispatched to a person who had suffered sudden cardiac arrest.
Upon arrival, the firefighters immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation and continued their efforts until the emergency medical team arrived. Thanks to the quick response and cooperation of all services, the person’s vital functions were restored. They were then transported to hospital, where they were placed under medical care.
Recent events show that firefighters’ service is not limited to fighting fires. Every call requires a rapid response, appropriate skills, and readiness to act—regardless of whether it involves removing the effects of a windstorm or fighting to save a human life.
The firefighters thank all rescuers for their commitment and emphasize that residents’ safety remains their highest priority.
