In Bolesławiec County, a sudden change in weather followed a period of record-breaking heat. Storms, heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts, locally reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h, swept across Bolesławiec and the county. Unfortunately, the strong wind damaged the trees and even decorative street lamps in the historic part of Bolesławiec. A reader sent us a view of the aftermath of the storm on Sądowa Street, opposite the bus stop and near the fountain.
The Municipal Planty in Bolesławiec are a historic ring of greenery surrounding the Old Town. They are listed in the register of historic monuments, revitalized by the city and a source of pride for Bolesławiec. They feature preserved old-growth trees and valuable historic elements, such as fountains and defensive walls. The Planty serve as a kind of cultural route through the city, connecting nearby cultural institutions, such as the theatre, cinema and municipal library.
