The incident occurred on Thursday, July 30, at approximately 12:00 p.m. on national road No. 5. The first to arrive at the scene were officers from the Jelenia Góra traffic police, who were on motorcycle patrol. The officers immediately secured the scene, provided first aid and directed traffic until the other emergency services arrived.

According to the preliminary findings of the officers working at the scene, the motorcyclist travelling from Szklarska Poręba towards Jelenia Góra failed to exercise due caution and hit the wheel of a Ford. At the time, the passenger-car driver was turning right.

The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control of the vehicle. After bouncing off the car, he also hit a concrete fence located beside the road.

A medical rescue team was dispatched to the scene. The injured motorcyclist was transported to hospital. The Ford driver was not injured. A breathalyser test showed that both participants were sober.

Police officers are carrying out activities aimed at thoroughly clarifying the circumstances and course of the accident.

In connection with the ongoing motorcycle season, officers are once again appealing for caution on the roads. They remind car drivers of the need to exercise particular care when turning and to carefully observe their surroundings, as motorcycles are much less visible than cars.

The appeal was also addressed to motorcyclists. Police remind them that excessive speed, travelling too close to the vehicle ahead or a moment of inattention can lead to very serious consequences. Maintaining a safe distance, adjusting speed to the conditions and anticipating the behaviour of other road users are basic principles that can save health and lives.

Officers stress that a motorcyclist is not protected by a vehicle body, which is why even an apparently minor collision can result in serious injuries. The shared responsibility of all road users remains a key element of safe travel.
