The incident occurred on Friday, July 31, at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of Dolne Młyny and Wróblewski Streets, near the Bolesławiec viaduct. Two passenger cars collided there.
As we established, no one suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. Firefighters and police officers worked at the scene. The officers secured the site of the incident. Police are carrying out activities aimed at determining the causes and exact circumstances of the collision.
The intersection of Wróblewski and Dolne Młyny Streets has been considered one of the most collision- and accident-prone locations in Bolesławiec for years. Dangerous situations occur there regularly, prompting drivers and residents to draw attention for a long time to the need to improve safety.
The reconstruction of this intersection has been discussed before. Last year, during the January session of the Bolesławiec City Council, Mayor Piotr Roman announced that the municipal authorities intended to cooperate with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways on preparing the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Wróblewski and Dolne Młyny Streets. The investment would improve traffic flow and reduce the number of collisions and accidents.
For now, it is not known when the planned roundabout would be built. Today’s collision once again shows, however, that reconstructing this location remains one of the key challenges in improving road safety in Bolesławiec.
We will return to this topic.
