At the request of the District Prosecutor in Lubań, the local District Court decided to impose two months of temporary detention on a 42-year-old resident of Lubań County. The woman is suspected of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, despite a lifetime driving ban in force against her and the withdrawal of her driving licence.
According to the findings of the investigation, in 2016 the court imposed a lifetime ban on the woman from driving all motor vehicles on public roads for previously driving a car under the influence of alcohol. In addition, the county governor issued a decision withdrawing her driving licence.
Investigators established that, despite the bans in force, the suspect drove an Audi A4 passenger car three times between 14 and 23 July 2026. According to the prosecutor’s office, she was intoxicated on each occasion.
She was arrested on 23 July 2026. The test showed that the woman had 2.4‰ of alcohol in her system. Officers also established that the vehicle she was driving did not have a valid technical inspection.
The 42-year-old was charged with driving while intoxicated under the conditions of repeat offending and failing to comply with the decision withdrawing her driving licence. The alleged offences carry a penalty of between 3 months and 5 years’ imprisonment.
The suspect admitted committing the alleged offences and gave an explanation. The prosecutor’s office reported that she had previously been convicted of a similar offence.
The court will decide the 42-year-old’s further fate after the proceedings have concluded. For now, the woman will spend the next two months in detention, where she will await the further course of the case.
