The case concerns events that, according to investigators, took place in Lubań from an undetermined date in 2025 until 22 November 2025. The prosecutor’s office accuses the woman of abusing her one-year-old son, who, due to his age, was unable to defend himself.
The accused allegedly suffocated the child with a pillow, pulled him by his clothes and hair, and also grabbed him by the arms and lifted him up, causing additional suffering. She also allegedly raised her voice at her son.
The recordings are particularly important in this case. The woman recorded her behavior on her phone and then sent the recordings to the child’s father, her former partner. According to the investigation, she did so in an attempt to persuade the man to return home.
The father notified the police
The man notified the Police. Officers from the Lubań County Police Headquarters arrested the suspect.
During the proceedings, the woman partially admitted to the alleged act. She explained that in the recordings she was only pretending to suffocate her son with a pillow. She also said that she had wanted to hurt her former partner in this way.
Due to doubts concerning the woman’s mental state, she underwent psychiatric observation during the investigation. Court-appointed psychiatrists found that she was neither mentally ill nor intellectually disabled. They did, however, diagnose her with a personality disorder.
The woman is in pre-trial detention
The 36-year-old had no prior criminal record. Since 23 November 2025, she has been held in pre-trial detention, where she is awaiting trial.
The crime she is accused of carries a sentence of between one and 10 years in prison.
