A reader contacted our Editorial Office asking us to publicize the idea. The initiative’s author is counting on the support of city residents and encouraging discussion about such an investment.
Several years ago, on the istotne.pl portal, we asked readers whether there was a need to create a fenced dog run in Bolesławiec. We conducted two surveys on the subject, and in both cases an overwhelming majority of voters supported carrying out such an investment (74.4% and 79.7% of voters supported the idea). The survey results indicate that there is public support and interest in creating such a place in Bolesławiec.
Reader:
I submitted a request to Bolesławiec City Hall concerning the creation of a publicly accessible walking and recreation park friendly to people who own dogs, including a safely fenced dog run.
She emphasizes that this is not about a small run with several obstacles, but a larger, green space intended for both dogs and their handlers:
This is not just about a small area with several obstacles. It is about a larger, green space with walking paths, benches, shade, bins, waste bags, access to water and lighting. Within it, there could be a fenced zone where dogs could safely run off-leash.
She indicated the “Leśny Potok” area on Jeleniogórska Street as a potential location. However, if it were not possible to carry out the investment there, the city could choose another suitable plot.
According to the idea’s author, Bolesławiec has no shortage of playgrounds and recreational areas for residents, but there is still no place created with dog owners in mind. Such a park could not only make walks more comfortable, but also reduce conflicts in other green areas and provide a safe space for older, anxious dogs or those requiring a calmer environment.
It is worth recalling that in the past we also reported cases involving substances and food posing a threat to animals. Among other things, we described an incident on Jana Pawła II Street and the discovery of blood sausage allegedly containing rat poison near Kosiby Street. According to supporters of the initiative, designating a safe, fenced space could improve the comfort and safety of walks with dogs.
The creation of such a place depends on the City Hall and on residents’ interest. The greater the public support for the idea, the greater the chance that it will be included in plans for developing the city’s recreational infrastructure.
What do you think of this idea?
Do you think Bolesławiec should have a dog-friendly walking and recreation park with a large, fenced dog run? We encourage you to take part in the survey and share your opinion in the comments. We are curious whether such an investment is needed and where—in your opinion—it could be created.
