According to the service, its catalog includes more than 33,000 products for dogs, and prices are updated several times a day. We checked what tools Wywęszone.pl offers dog owners and how they can help when buying food.
Search engine and product page
The simplest starting point is food that the dog already eats and tolerates well. After entering its name or brand into the search engine, the service displays matching products along with the lowest available price and the number of stores selling them. People who are only choosing food can use the list of brands and view one producer’s entire range in one place: individual lines, flavors and weights.
The product page contains a comparison of stores with current prices and availability information. This is particularly important for food that should not be changed suddenly. If a product temporarily disappears from the offer of the store where we usually shop, the same list shows where it can be ordered immediately. Selecting an offer takes you to the store—Wywęszone.pl does not sell products, but only compiles available offers.
Dog food category and its filters
The service’s largest section is the dog food category. Despite its name, the landing page is not limited to food alone. By default, it displays the entire range for dogs: dry and wet food, treats and supplements. This is a convenient starting point for people who want to browse a wider selection or top up their supply of treats when ordering food.
If we are interested in only one product group, we can use the product-type filter and display, for example, only dry food, treats alone or only supplements. The selection can then be narrowed further with additional filters. Their set will be familiar to anyone who has bought food online, as these are parameters found in most pet stores, including:
- dog’s age—separate listings for puppies, adult dogs and seniors,
- breed size—which matters, among other things, when choosing food for large-breed puppies, which need a different composition from small-breed puppies,
- flavor—useful when a dog accepts only selected protein sources, such as lamb, duck or salmon,
- sales format—the multipack filter makes shopping easier for households with several dogs,
- product type, brand, package size and rating given by buyers.
The advantage of Wywęszone.pl therefore lies not in the filters themselves, but in their reach. In an online store, we narrow results only within one seller’s range. In the comparison tool, the same criteria—for example, “dry food for large-breed puppies with a lamb flavor”—are applied simultaneously to offers from more than 200 stores. One search thus replaces browsing a dozen websites, and the results list immediately includes products that simply may not have been available at our favorite store.
For each product in the list, you can also see the lowest price, price per kilogram, number of stores offering it, and the average rating with the number of reviews. This makes it possible to compare foods preliminarily without opening additional pages.
Price per kilogram instead of price per package
Dog food is sold in very different weights: from 400- and 800-gram cans, through 2- and 7-kilogram bags, to 12- or 15-kilogram packages and sets containing several or several dozen pieces. Comparing package prices alone therefore says little about which product is actually cheaper.
On Wywęszone.pl, the price of each food is converted to a per-kilogram figure, and results can be sorted by this parameter. This makes it easy to check whether a larger bag or multipack really reduces the cost, or whether the difference is merely symbolic. Owners of large-breed dogs, which eat several hundred grams of food a day, may benefit the most.
Dog feeding cost calculator
The price per kilogram is only part of the calculation—the other is the daily portion, which depends on the dog and the food’s calorie content. The service’s dog food calculator combines both values: https://wyweszone.pl/kalkulator-karmy. Based on information about the dog and the selected food, it calculates the recommended daily portion in grams and then estimates the monthly feeding cost.
The tool is particularly useful when comparing foods with different calorie contents. A product that is more expensive per kilogram may turn out to be cheaper over the course of a month if the recommended portion is smaller. The calculator’s results are estimates and do not replace a veterinarian’s advice.
Promotions, price history and price alerts
The service maintains a section with current promotions for dogs (https://wyweszone.pl/promocje), organized by discount size. On a product page, you can check how its price has changed in recent weeks. There is also a comparison of up to four products at once, useful, for example, when choosing between several foods and wanting to compare them on one screen.
These functions can be used without creating an account. For people who only want to check prices before buying, this is a practical solution because it requires neither registration nor providing personal data.
Logging in is needed only to set a price alert. After adding a product to the watchlist, the service notifies you of a price drop by email or push notification. Alerts may be especially useful for people who do not want to check the comparison tool regularly. A separate section also contains discount codes for pet stores.
Pet store ranking and map
Wywęszone.pl also publishes a ranking of the cheapest stores, prepared using prices collected by the comparison tool. It may serve as a guide for people who prefer to shop regularly in one place. For those who shop in person, the service provides a map of more than 3,500 pet stores in Poland, while a blog with guides for pet owners complements the available tools.
Dog food: the comparison tool as a starting point
Wywęszone.pl will not replace the decision about which food best meets the needs of a particular dog—that decision belongs to the owner or, in case of doubt, to a veterinarian. The service can, however, make the second stage of shopping easier: finding the place where the chosen product costs the least. Filters, per-kilogram price calculations, the feeding cost calculator and price alerts mean that comparing offers takes less time, while the purchase decision is based on specific data.
