Police officers from the Traffic Division of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters stopped a passenger car driver for inspection after he significantly exceeded the speed limit on national road no. 94.

The inspection took place in one of the localities in the Nowogrodziec gmina. A 64-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County was behind the wheel.

The measurement showed that the man was travelling at 106 km/h in a built-up area, where the speed limit is 50 km/h. This means he exceeded the limit by 56 km/h.

The consequences were severe. The driver was fined PLN 1,500, received 13 penalty points, and the police seized his driving licence for three months.

Officers remind drivers that excessive speed remains one of the main causes of the most serious road accidents. The faster a vehicle is travelling, the less time the driver has to react in a dangerous situation, and the consequences of a possible incident are much more serious.

The police appeal to all drivers to observe the applicable speed limits and adapt their driving to the conditions on the road.
