A moving post was published on social media by the Bezpieczna Przystań Animal Aid Foundation. A volunteer described a situation that took place on a road. A dead cat, most likely hit by a car, was lying in the middle of the road.
When the woman moved the animal off the road, she noticed that the cat’s nipples were severely swollen with milk. This meant one thing—she had been a nursing mother. At that very moment, a dramatic thought occurred to her: small kittens might be somewhere in the area, waiting for their mother to return.
As the foundation emphasized, the scene was located far from any buildings. There were only fields, a forest, and bushes nearby. In the author’s view, it is difficult to believe that a cat with small kittens had ended up there by chance. She did not rule out the possibility that the animal had previously been abandoned.
Despite being tired after work, the volunteer decided to turn back and begin searching. As she wrote, she could not return to her daily responsibilities knowing that orphaned young kittens might be somewhere in the tall grass, with little chance of survival without their mother.
In its post, the organization also addressed people who abandon animals. It emphasized that throwing away a cat or dog does not solve the problem, but instead shifts the responsibility onto volunteers and organizations that later fight for the lives of the animals left behind.
The foundation also reminded readers about the importance of neutering and spaying, pointing out that these are the most effective ways to prevent uncontrolled cat breeding and the subsequent abandonment of unwanted litters.
It is not known whether the orphaned kittens were actually near the place where the dead cat was found. Nevertheless, the volunteer decided to begin searching, hoping that if the young kittens had survived, they could be found in time.
