An unusual report was received by the police in the middle of the night. A woman informed the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski that a bear had reportedly entered her yard in Łupki.

The incident reportedly took place on the night from Wednesday to Thursday, at around 3 a.m. As junior constable Lwówecki.info was told by junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, the reporting woman claimed that the wild animal had remained near the house for a while.

According to the reporting woman, the animal then went out onto the street and headed toward second Łupki and Lwówek Śląski.

Police checked the area

Because of the potential danger to residents, a police patrol was sent to the scene. The officers checked the indicated area and searched the surroundings.

However, they were unable to find the bear or discover any trace of it.

Importantly, this was already another report of this kind in a short period. Just one day earlier, a resident of Wleń Municipality told the Lwówecki.info editorial office that, while cycling near Nielestno, he had noticed an animal resembling a bear. However, he was not one hundred percent certain.

Police urge caution

If a large wild animal appears near buildings, the most important thing is to keep a safe distance and not approach it.

Police remind the public that, despite its appearance being associated by many people with a cute creature, a bear is a large and powerful wild animal. If it feels threatened, it may behave aggressively.

Any appearance of a bear or another large animal in a populated area, if it may pose a threat, should be reported immediately by calling the emergency number 112.
