During the event, participants will be able to learn about the key demands concerning amendments to the regulations – from increasing the safety of people and animals, through banning unethical hunting methods, to greater public oversight and access to information about hunts. The organizers emphasize that the current provisions of the law date back many years and do not meet contemporary standards for protecting life, safety and animal welfare. Details of all the proposed changes are available at www.uwagapolowanie.pl and in abbreviated form in the attachment.

Main demands of the reform

  • Human safety – mandatory periodic medical and psychological examinations for hunters, increasing the minimum distance from buildings from 150 m to 700 m, effective sobriety checks, and criminal liability for hunting under the influence of intoxicating substances.
  • Transparency – public release of detailed reports by the Polish Hunting Association and full public access to information about ongoing and planned hunts.
  • Hunting ethics – a ban on driven hunts, nighttime hunting with night-vision devices, and breeding animals solely for hunting purposes.
  • Rights of property owners and municipalities – the possibility of limiting hunting districts and simplifying the procedure for excluding a specific plot from areas covered by hunting.
  • Nature protection – participation of environmental protection authorities in approving hunting plans and consideration of the impact of hunts on protected species and their habitats.
