Officers of the National Revenue Administration and the Police have arrested another person suspected of involvement in an organized scheme involving the issuance and use of fake VAT invoices. The arrest was the result of many months of operational work by officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław and police officers from the Economic Crime Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wałbrzych.

More than 1,400 fake invoices worth PLN 28 million

According to investigators’ findings, since 2020 the individuals covered by the proceedings allegedly issued more than 1,400 fake VAT invoices for various business entities. The total value of the documents exceeds PLN 28 million.

So far, charges have been brought against more than a dozen people. Investigators are analyzing the role of the individual suspects and the scale of the losses suffered by the State Treasury.

38-year-old man from Mazovia arrested

On July 1, 2026, officers arrested a 38-year-old resident of Legionowo County in the Masovian Voivodeship.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the man used fake invoices VAT, allegedly leading to a reduction of VAT liabilities by more than PLN 260,000.

During the actions carried out, the services secured property worth more than PLN 700,000.

Charges and possible sentence

After being brought before the District Prosecutor’s Office in Świdnica, the 38-year-old was charged with, among other things, forging accounting records, tax fraud and violating the provisions of the Fiscal Penal Code.

He faces up to 8 years in prison for the alleged offenses. The prosecutor applied police supervision as a preventive measure against the suspect.

Investigation is ongoing

The prosecutor’s office emphasizes that the case is still developing. Investigators are carrying out further actions and do not rule out additional arrests of people who may have been involved in issuing and using fake VAT invoices.
