The ban applies to the river section from km 196+130 (the crown of the Pilchowice Dam) to km 166+024 (the Rakowice Reservoir) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
This section of the Bóbr runs, among other places, through the vicinity of:
- Pilchowice,
- Wleń,
- Lwówek Śląski,
- and ends at the Rakowice Reservoir before Bolesławiec.
The regulation includes:
- a ban on entering the water, including swimming,
- a ban on using watercraft,
- a ban on recreational and commercial fishing,
- a ban on using the water for commercial purposes,
- a ban on watering animals with water from the river.
The decision was made in connection with the results of laboratory tests, which showed that the water along the specified section does not meet quality requirements. The Lower Silesian State Provincial Sanitary Inspector deemed it unsuitable for swimming and water recreation, and inadvisable for commercial use and watering animals due to the potential risk to human and animal health.
The services appeal to residents and tourists to strictly comply with the restrictions in force. Violations of the bans may result in liability provided for under the Code of Petty Offences.
