The incident occurred on September 23, 2026. During their duty, officers from Przemków noticed a 31-year-old man riding a Wonjan moped. The officers recognized the rider. They suspected that he might be subject to an active court-ordered ban on driving motor vehicles.
They decided to stop the moped rider for a check. The patrol car's light and sound signals were activated, clearly ordering the rider to stop.
However, the man had no intention of following the officers' orders. Instead of stopping, he accelerated and continued riding.
He abandoned the moped and fled on foot
After a while, the 31-year-old turned onto a gravel road. There, he abandoned the moped and tried to continue his escape on foot.
The police officers chased him and quickly caught up with him. The man was detained.
A check in police systems confirmed the officers' suspicions. The resident of Polkowice County did indeed have an active court-ordered ban on driving all motor vehicles.
However, the intervention did not end there.
Drug test detected the presence of narcotics
The detainee's behavior raised further suspicions among the police officers, so they conducted a drug test.
It indicated the presence of narcotics in the man's system. Blood was also taken from the 31-year-old for further laboratory testing.
The man will be held accountable for failing to comply with the court-ordered ban on driving vehicles and for failing to stop for a road check despite the officers ordering him to do so using light and sound signals.
If laboratory tests confirm that he was riding the moped under the influence of a narcotic substance, he may also face an additional charge.
Failure to stop for a road check is punishable by up to 5 years' imprisonment.
