On the occasion of the recent opening of the pools on Spacerowa Street for another season, discussion about the future of Leśny Potok has resurfaced. Our editorial office received a voice message from a Reader, who believes that the older facility could still operate:

The Leśny Potok swimming pool could easily continue operating. Prices at Leśny Potok were more affordable. The pool on Spacerowa is too expensive for some people.

We asked the Bolesławiec municipal authorities to comment on this opinion. They strongly disagree with the claim that operating two municipal swimming facilities simultaneously would mean lower costs at one of them. As we were told, reopening Leśny Potok would require hiring additional lifeguards, technical staff and cleaning crews, as well as ensuring the full operation of the entire facility. The whole operation would have to be set in motion, and this would certainly affect ticket prices.

Another matter is that swimming pools on Spacerowa are often criticized online, but it then turns out that residents are very eager to use them. During the very first weekend after opening, the facility was truly besieged.

What will happen to Leśny Potok?

Let us recall that the future of Leśny Potok is not a new issue.

We previously reported that the city was considering two options: selling the facility or leasing it to a private entity. Ultimately, a decision was made to sell the property.

In the spring, Bolesławiec Mayor Piotr Roman said that he would like the new owner to develop the site in a way that would make it attractive to tourists. Among the possible ideas he mentioned were building a hotel with fishing facilities or creating a venue for recreational events.

We will certainly return to this topic.
