Before the night shift began, the Head of the Prevention Division of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec witnessed the incident. The officer noticed a cyclist riding across the entire width of the lane, creating a potential danger to himself and other road users.

The police officer intervened and stopped the man for a check. According to the account, during the conversation he immediately detected a strong smell of alcohol coming from the 45-year-old. A patrol on duty was dispatched to the scene through the duty officer.

The officers conducted a sobriety test. The result showed that the cyclist had more than half a per mille of alcohol in his system.

In connection with the offence, the man was issued a PLN 2,500 fine.

The police remind the public that riding a bicycle or other two-wheeled vehicle after consuming alcohol is prohibited. Even a small amount of alcohol can reduce concentration, lengthen reaction time and increase the risk of dangerous situations on the road.
