The incident took place on the premises of the railway station in Bolesławiec. The police duty officer was notified that an alarm had been activated. A patrol was sent to the scene. A security guard told the officers about a man who had allegedly dismantled and stolen an intruder alarm sensor and damaged parts of the facility’s security system.
The police immediately began their actions and established that the suspect had already boarded a train. Officers arrested him before the train departed, preventing him from leaving the city.
The detainee turned out to be a 40-year-old resident of Legnica. The man was taken to a police unit, where he was charged with stealing the intruder alarm sensor and damaging the alarm system. The total value of the losses incurred by PKP was estimated at approximately PLN 2,500.
However, this was not the end of the investigators’ findings. During their activities, detectives noticed the electric scooter used by the detainee. Initially, the vehicle was not listed in police systems as having been lost as a result of a crime.
The situation changed when a report concerning the theft of two electric scooters from one of the stores was received by the Bolesławiec police station. Police quickly linked the cases and established that the detainee, together with another person, had previously stolen the vehicles.
In connection with the new findings, the 40-year-old was charged with the theft of an electric scooter. The recovered property, worth PLN 1,800, was secured and will be returned to its owner after the proceedings are completed.
Officers are continuing their work on the case. Efforts are underway to recover the second stolen scooter and determine the whereabouts of and arrest the other man who allegedly participated in the theft.
The 40-year-old faces up to five years in prison for the alleged offences.
