The cooperation between St. Luke’s Hospital in Bolesławiec and the private company MEDASK will be inspected. This follows from a response from the Ministry of Health received by one of our readers.

The reader wrote to the ministry after publications concerning MEDASK, a private company operating at the Bolesławiec hospital. In our materials, we described, among other things, questions concerning money, the number of services provided, the method of settling visits, the lack of employees on the company’s payroll, and personal connections between people associated with the hospital.

In its response, the Ministry of Health explained that St. Luke’s Hospital in Bolesławiec is an independent public healthcare institution whose founding body is Bolesławiec County.

The ministry recalled that the founding body is precisely the institution supervising the hospital. The letter went on to indicate what such supervision should cover. This includes, among other things, the availability and quality of healthcare services, the management of property and public funds, and financial management.

However, the most important part of the response concerns the inspection.

A representative of the Ministry of Health wrote:

I would like to inform you that, according to information provided to the Ministry of Health on May 26, 2026, the Bolesławiec County Board decided to conduct an inspection concerning cooperation between the Bolesławiec Healthcare Complex and MEDASK Sp. z o.o.

This means that the county, the body responsible for supervising the hospital, is to deal with the matter.

But that is not the end.

The ministry also provided information about an NHF inspection. The ministry wrote:

I kindly inform you that, in the case of the healthcare provider Bolesławiec Healthcare Complex, the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Branch of the NHF commissioned an inspection concerning the agreement concluded with the aforementioned branch for the provision of healthcare services in the field of Outpatient Specialist Care (AOS).

This is significant because outpatient specialist care is precisely the area in which the hospital cooperates with MEDASK.

The Ministry indicated that the NHF inspection will cover, among other things:

meeting the conditions required to provide healthcare services with regard to medical personnel

and

the provision of services and the correctness of reporting and settling healthcare services within the sample covered by the inspection.

In other words, the NHF is to examine not only staffing issues, but also how the services were reported and settled.

This is very important in the context of the questions istotne.pl directed to the hospital. We asked, among other things, about the number of services provided by MEDASK, the amounts paid to the company, and the revenue received by the Healthcare Complex from these services.

The hospital refused to disclose some of this data, citing business confidentiality. The matter is currently the subject of further legal action by the editorial team.

Help us remain independent

Reporting difficult issues is not always welcomed by those in power. Independent media can then lose advertising from public institutions. The future of local journalism therefore depends primarily on readers. If you value our work, you can support us.

The Ministry of Health also noted that it does not itself exercise direct supervision over the Bolesławiec hospital because it is not the hospital’s founding body. The ministry may act only within the powers defined by law.

The letter contains one more piece of information. In accordance with the schedule, the NHF also plans to carry out a process authorizing profiles in hospital treatment at the Bolesławiec Healthcare Complex from June 22 to September 22, 2026. The premises, the organization of service provision, staff qualifications, working hours, forms of employment, and the equipment used to provide services are to be verified, among other things.

The MEDASK case is therefore evolving from a local issue into a matter already being addressed by institutions supervising the healthcare system.

The key questions remain current: how much money the hospital paid to MEDASK, for how many services, and under what terms this cooperation was settled.
