On Friday, May 29, 2026, at 9:54 p.m., firefighters from Gromadka were dispatched to a chimney fire in the village of Modła. Several fire service crews were sent to the scene. In addition to the firefighters from Gromadka, uniformed personnel from Różyniec, Nowa Kuźnia and Bolesławiec also took part in the operation.
The danger was eliminated and, fortunately, no one suffered anything more serious.
Chimney fires are among the incidents that occur particularly often during the heating season, although they can also happen outside it.
Situations of this kind pose a serious threat to residents and buildings, because the high temperature inside the chimney flue can damage the installation and even cause the fire to spread to other parts of the building.
Firefighters remind residents that regular inspections of the technical condition of chimney flues and cleaning them are among the most important preventive measures, which can significantly reduce the risk of similar incidents.
The services also appeal for caution when operating heating appliances and for a response to any concerning signs, such as unusual smoke, a smell of burning or reduced chimney draft.
