The incident occurred on 15 May. Officers were dispatched to the county road between Gaworzyce and Kurów Wielki, where, according to the report, the driver of a Renault passenger car was travelling on a bare rim. His driving style suggested that he might be under the influence of alcohol.

As the patrol was approaching the scene, responsible drivers prevented the man from continuing, taking the vehicle keys from him. Their decisive action prevented a tragedy.

What came to light during the inspection?

It turned out that the 18-year-old was not licensed to drive a car. In addition, an alcohol breath test showed nearly two per mille of alcohol in his system.

What is more, the car the teenager was driving was damaged—the vehicle was indeed travelling on a bare rim, posing a threat to other road users.

Police confiscated the vehicle registration certificate, and the car was towed to a police parking facility. Blood was taken from the driver for further testing.

Furthermore, during the intervention, the man insulted the officers involved, directing words commonly considered offensive at them. The result? He was detained and taken to a police cell.

The young man could not explain to the police why he had been driving on a bare rim. He admitted to the offences alleged against him, and the Court will decide his further fate.

Police emphasise that the civic-minded attitude of the drivers who reacted to the dangerous behaviour deserves recognition and praise:

Their responsible response may have prevented a serious accident and saved a human life.
