On May 13, the incident was reported by the US Army website. According to information provided by the US Army, on March 4, near Bolesławiec, Sgt. Nicolette Frankowski witnessed a road accident. The US Army soldier was traveling by car with an interpreter when, just in front of their vehicle, two other vehicles collided.

When they saw this, they immediately stopped to help the injured people. They secured the scene, assessed the condition of those involved in the accident, called the police and put out warning triangles. Both remained at the scene until the emergency services arrived.

While speaking with those affected, the soldier used the Polish language. It is worth noting that her knowledge of Polish was not accidental—she has Polish roots and grew up in a family that emigrated from Poland.

Nicolette has been serving in the US Army for nearly five years. She first came to Poland in 2024 and decided to return for another mission. As she herself said, quoted by army.mil:

I would have stopped regardless of where I was—in Poland or in America. I just wanted to make sure that everyone was safe and sound.
