Criminal investigators from the District Police Headquarters in Lubań carried out a successful operation targeting drug crime. The culmination of weeks of operational work was the arrest of two men and the seizure of more than 2 kilograms of drugs, including marijuana, amphetamine and cocaine.
For several weeks, investigators had been analyzing the information they had gathered and investigating a community involved in the drug trade. Thanks to meticulous work, they managed to identify people suspected of involvement in the operation. As a result of the operation, two men aged 21 and 32 were arrested.
The first arrest took place in Lubań County. The 21-year-old, attempting to avoid arrest, made an unsuccessful attempt to flee. While driving, he struck an unmarked police vehicle. Officers quickly subdued him and found more than a kilogram of marijuana in his car. The man was charged with an active assault on an officer and possession of a significant quantity of drugs.
The second suspect, a 32-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County, was arrested the same day at his place of residence. During a search of the apartment, vehicle and basement, police seized more drugs—over a kilogram of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine.
By court decision, the 21-year-old was placed in pre-trial detention for two months. The older detainee was placed under police supervision, banned from leaving the country and required to provide bail of PLN 100,000.
As the officers emphasize, these actions are another example of the effective fight against drug crime. Seizing such a large quantity of illegal substances means a real reduction in their availability on the market and, consequently, greater safety for the region’s residents.
