On 4 May 2026, an evacuation drill involving firefighters was held at the Gminne Przedszkole in Gromadka. The exercise was attended by officers from the Komenda Powiatowa Państwowej Straży Pożarnej in Bolesławiec and two units of OSP KSRG Gromadka. The scenario assumed that all children and staff would have to leave the building quickly.
The youngest participants demonstrated great discipline and knowledge of safety rules. The evacuation proceeded smoothly and without disruption, which, as the organizers emphasize, is the result of systematic educational work and appropriate preparation by the institution’s management and staff.
After the official part, the children were able to see the firefighting equipment up close and talk to the rescuers.
Why are drills like these so important?
Evacuation drills are crucial in preparing both children and adults for emergency situations. They teach appropriate responses, reduce panic and help develop automatic behaviors in stressful moments. They also make it possible to test procedures in practice and identify any organizational shortcomings.
Regular drills increase safety levels in educational institutions and build awareness from an early age. As the example of Gromadka shows, this kind of education produces tangible results.
