The incident occurred on Monday, July 11. At around 4:00 p.m., the duty officer at the Bolesławiec Municipal Police received a report that, in the allotment gardens on Konradowska Street, a man had hung a dog from a tree and was hitting it on the head with an axe. A patrol immediately went to the scene.
The man explained to the officers that the dog had wandered in and would not leave him alone. The assailant therefore hung it from a tree and then intended to bury it in a hole he had previously dug on the plot. Fortunately, the dog broke free from the rope and managed to escape.
After about half an hour, the municipal police received a report that a dog was running near Buczka Street and that its appearance matched the description of the abused animal. The dog has a fractured skull, an open head wound and a broken canine tooth.
Witnesses to the incident confirmed that it was this dog the allotment holder had abused. The man was handed over to the Bolesławiec police, who are conducting further proceedings in the case. The dog is under veterinary care.
