On Friday (8 July), the municipal police duty officer received a report that a badly parked truck was standing at Piastowski Square. The vehicle was standing on the pavement and blocking the way for pedestrians. When the officers established the vehicle owner's identity, a young man approached them and stated that he was the truck driver. The smell of alcohol was detectable from the man. The officers informed the driver of the reason for the intervention. The man stated that he had not committed an offence. However, he accepted the summons to clarify the matter and then went to a nearby building.
After some time, a municipal police patrol noticed the same truck on Gdańska Street. The same man was driving it. The officers informed the duty officer, who notified the police. The municipal police patrol followed the truck. After a while, the truck driver stopped in a car park near a petrol station on Zgorzelecka Street. At that point, the police arrived at the car park. It turned out that the truck driver had nearly 0.7 per mille of alcohol.
Drunk minibus driver
On Saturday (9 July), the municipal police received a report from a resident of Teatralna Street. The report concerned a man getting behind the wheel of a minibus. According to the person reporting it, the man might have been under the influence of alcohol. The municipal police duty officer informed the police, while municipal police officers followed the minibus. When the minibus driver stopped on Wałowa Street, it turned out that he did not have any documents with him. In addition, alcohol could be smelled on him. After the police tested him, it turned out that the man had more than 0.7 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air.
